Golden Sunny: A Warm, Confident Serif for Real Work
Designer Notes You’ll Actually Use
- Test it in black and white first — its warmth comes from shape, not color, so it must hold up without gradients or overlays.
- Check small-size readability at actual output: print a 10pt sample on your intended paper stock, or view a 14px web version on an iPhone in daylight.
- Drop it into real mockups — not just Photoshop layers, but printed packaging dummies, Figma prototypes, or physical Cricut test cuts.
- Compare uppercase and lowercase side-by-side in your layout. Golden Sunny’s lowercase has more personality — don’t default to caps unless the brand voice demands boldness.
- Run pairing tests: set a paragraph in Golden Sunny beside a serif font (for contrast), a sans serif font (for balance), a script font (for texture), a handwritten font (for authenticity), and a display font (to avoid competition). Golden Sunny plays well — but only when it’s clearly the lead actor.
